You’re going to love this recipe. Now let’s get into the ingredients you will need to make it!
Ingredients for chocolate cottage cheese mousse:
This high protein dessert only calls for a few ingredients:
Cottage cheese: I prefer the daisy brand because I find that it blends better than other brands but you can use any brand of cottage cheese that you like!
Cacao Powder: The chocolate for our cottage cheese chocolate mousse. Be sure to choose the unsweetened powder!
Milk: This is optional and you’ll need just 1 tbsp to help your cottage cheese blend.
Powdered sugar: For a touch of sweetness and to enhance the light and fluffy texture of our cottage cheese mousse.
Peppermint extract: The star of this holiday dessert show! Peppermint extract adds tons of flavor in just a small amount so be sure to add it slowly.
Vanilla extract: For flavor depth.
Crushed peppermint: This will be sprinkled overtop for garnish and flavor but can also be blended into the mousse itself if you want to add a crunch.
Whipped cream: Optional but recommended for topping.
Step by Step Instructions:
The best part about this cottage cheese chocolate mousse recipe is that it comes together in just one blender or blender cup. We love a high protein dessert that makes minimal mess!
Here’s how you’ll make it:
1) Simply add all of your ingredients to a blender or blender cup and blend until smooth. Allow the mousse to fully blend to achieve the fluffiest texture!
LTN Tip: Some brands of cottage cheese blend easier than others depending on their moisture level. If you are struggling to get your cottage cheese to blend, add a small amount of milk and continue to scrape down the sides of your blender cup to keep the cottage cheese near your blender blades.
2) Add your high protein chocolate mousse to whatever serving glasses you would like and garnish with whipped cream, peppermint pieces, and chopped chocolate. Enjoy!
LTN Tip: If you would like to add more peppermint flavor, you can stir some of the peppermint pieces into the mousse itself after it is done blending. You can also add more sweetness with an extra tablespoon of powdered sugar or a dash of a liquid sweetner.

Drizzle with chocolate: Want more chocolate for your healthy chocolate mousse? Drizzle some melted chocolate overtop or add a tablespoon of melted chocolate to the mousse itself while it’s blending. You could also drizzle chocolate into your serve-ware before you fill it with mousse.
Sweeten it up: This recipe is subtly sweet but you could sweeten it up with extra powdered sugar, brown sugar, or a small amount of liquid sweetener.
Change your garnish: I like to top my high protein chocolate mousse with whipped cream at a minimum. You could also add crushed peppermint, a peppermint stick, chocolate sprinkles, or chopped chocolate pieces for extra garnish.
