If you want to try a recipe with blended cottage cheese, here are 10 delicious recipes that are easy to make, full of flavor, and feature the versatility of blended cottage cheese that I think you will love!

What is cottage cheese?

Cottage cheese is similar to other cheeses in that it is made from coagulated milk. Coagulated milk is made when an enzyme, acid, and maybe some heat is added to fluid milk. This separates the milk into two components: liquid whey and milk solids (also known as the curd).

Milk solids, or the solid component of coagulated milk, is what is used to then make cheeses like cottage cheese. To make cottage cheese, producers take the milk solids, process them further to remove majority of the liquid whey, and finish with rinsing and salting those milk solids. The end result? The cottage cheese we all love!

Cottage cheese is very high in protein, moderate in carbohydrate content, and varies in fat and total calorie content based on which fat percentage you choose to buy. You can buy non-fat, 1%, 2%, and whole milk options as well as varying curd sizes from large to small to completely blended and smooth like yogurt.

What does cottage cheese taste like? Cottage cheese is incredibly mild in flavor without to tang of greek yogurt and has a neutral flavor profile similar to that of ricotta cheese. To me, cottage cheese has a VERY subtle and mild cream cheese flavor which makes it a tasty addition to both sweet and savory recipes.
