While there is now a wide variety of cottage cheese recipes to choose from, few recipes have taken the internet by storm the way that the viral cottage cheese cookie dough recipe did!

The majority of cottage cheese cookie dough recipes that you will find online mimic chocolate chip cookie dough, but there are so many other cookie flavors to choose from! Despite the array of cookie flavors, I found that many of them are not captured in these edible cookie dough recipes.

One of my all time favorite cookies is a warm snickerdoodle. With the perfect hint of sweet sugar and spicy cinnamon, I knew these would be the perfect flavors to blend into a classic cottage cheese cookie dough recipe base and give you a fun twist on the viral recipe.

High protein and full of flavor, you’ll love this snickerdoodle cottage cheese cookie dough for a sweet treat during the day or to be enjoyed on the couch at night!

Why you’ll love this recipe:

You’ll absolutely love this snickerdoodle cottage cheese cookie dough recipe because it’s:

  • Meal prep friendly: This recipe makes 1 to 2 servings, but you can choose to distribute those how you would like and enjoy it throughout the week. I find that cottage cheese cookie dough tastes the best after it has been allowed to chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes!

  • Easy to make: the hardest part of this recipe is making the blended cottage cheese… and thats simply because every cottage cheese blends a little differently. Some have higher liquid content and blend easier, while others may require a splash of milk to help!

  • Customizable: You can adjust the amount of cinnamon sugar flavors you add to this recipe. If you want to keep this recipe with low added sugar, you can skip the sugar and sweeten with a liquid sweetener instead.

  • High protein: With protein coming from cottage cheese and vanilla protein powder, this cottage cheese cookie dough recipe has over 30 grams of protein wrapped up in it’s snickerdoodle flavors!

ingredients for cottage cheese cookie dough.

Ingredients:

You’ll only need a handful of ingredients for this cinnamon sugar cottage cheese cookie dough recipe:

  1. Cottage cheese: you can use any brand and fat level you prefer.

  2. Milk (optional): some cottage cheese brands have a higher moisture content and blend easier in the blender. If you are struggling to get your cottage cheese to blend, add a small splash of milk to help thin it out!

  3. Almond flour: You can use almond flour or oat flour as both of these flour options can be eaten raw.

  4. Vanilla Protein Powder: My favorite is the Optimum nutrition whey gold standard but you can use your favorite brand!

  5. Ground Cinnamon

  6. Sugar: I used cane sugar to really give this recipe the classic snickerdoodle cookie flavors. If you want to keep this lower in added sugar, you can skip the sugar and sweeten to taste with a liquid sweetener instead.

  7. Salt

Recipe FAQ:

    1. You may, but the texture will be different. I tested this recipe with greek yogurt instead of cottage cheese and found that the moisture of the greek yogurt made the result much less similar to cookie dough.

  2. Why make cottage cheese cookie dough?

    1. Is cottage cheese cookie dough exactly like real cookie dough? No, but it is decently similar and definitely accomplishes a similar flavor profile that is sneaky filled with protein and micronutrients.
