Ingredients:

  • Honey: whichever brand is your favorite

  • Crushed red pepper: this is what makes this honey “hot honey.” There are a variety of other options to choose from to add some heat but I tend to gravitate towards crushed red pepper because I almost always have it in my pantry!

Recipe FAQ:

1) Can I use a different spice to make hot honey?

Crushed red pepper is just one spice option to make hot honey. Another common option is sriracha to make a hot sriracha honey which is equally as delicious. Beyond that, you can add other spices like cayenne pepper or simmer your honey with jalapeños or red chili peppers to spice it up!

2) How to store hot honey?

Once made, hot honey can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature or in the refrigerator!

3) How can I change the spice level of my hot honey?

The beauty of hot honey is that you get to make it match your own taste preferences! For this particular recipe:

  • For a mild hot honey- use 1 tsp to ½ tbsp crushed red pepper flakes with ½ cup honey.

  • For a spicy hot honey- use 2 tbsp crushed red pepper flakes with ½ cup honey. You could also do 1 tbsp red pepper flakes and 1 tbsp sriracha.
