Burger Sauce Recipe
If you love In-N-Out burgers, then you’re going to love this copycat in-n-out sauce! This classic burger sauce recipe has only 4 ingredients and is the perfect sauce for burgers or dip for fries.
One thing you may not know about me is that I’m actually a California girl. While Californian’s love the sun and the beach, there is another thing that I feel many Californians feel very passionate about: In-N-Out Burger.
When I first moved the Texas, the In-N-Out vs Whataburger debate was a constant point of conversation at my household. While whataburger does win on the vast menu options, In-N-Out takes the cake on the most delicious burger sauce recipe.
Naturally, I had to take a piece of my home and recreate it in my own kitchen so here you have my own copycat In-N-Out burger sauce recipe. It tastes so similar to the classic sauce and will take your homemade burgers to a level that mustard and ketchup simply cannot!
Why you’ll love this recipe:
You’ll absolutely love this easy burger sauce recipe because it’s:
Easy to make: no special cooking skills required for this recipe. Just add your ingredients to a bowl and mix!
Only 4 ingredients: Low fat mayo, ketchup, sugar, and some dill relish make for the perfect burger sauce.
Customizable: you can alter all of the ingredients to your own taste preference. I also made this recipe with low fat mayo to cut down on calories but you could make it with full fat mayo or even swap it for blended cottage cheese for a healthy cottage cheese dip!
Family friendly: This sauce is full of mild flavor and will be loved by all family members.
You’re going to love this recipe!
Ingredients:
The best part about this recipe is that it’s only 4 simple ingredients:
Low fat mayonnaise: I chose to make this recipe with low fat mayo because I don’t really notice a difference and it does lower the calories. You could make this with full fat mayo or even swap out the mayo for some blended cottage cheese for a higher protein burger sauce.
Ketchup: I prefer one that has no added sugar because we will be adding our own sugar.
Dill relish: If you prefer a sweeter sauce, you could choose sweet relish.
Sugar: Add this is small increments and to taste!
That’s all you’ll need to make your burgers feel fancy and customized!
The process:
This sauce will be ready to enjoy in just two simple steps:
Add all of your ingredients to a small bowl.
Stir until combined. Enjoy!
LTN Tip: Be sure to add your ingredients, especially the sugar, in small increments. If you used a ketchup that has added sugar in it or choose to include a sweet relish, you may want to add a bit less sugar so that your sauce does not get too sweet. Always add to taste.
What to eat with a burger sauce:
While this recipe is delicious on burgers, one of the best parts of this burger sauce is that it can be enjoyed in a variety of ways including:
Add it to smash burger tacos: If you like smash burgers, then you’ll love my smash burger tacos with this tasty sauce. They taste just like a Big Mac, but in taco form!
Make it a dressing: I often use this sauce as the dressing for my burger salads or other ground beef salad recipes.
Use it as a dip: Dip fries, roasted potatoes, and even sausage links into this sauce.
There really are so many different ways that you can serve this recipe!
Recipe FAQ:
Can I make this recipe lower in calorie?
Absolutely! If you make it as written, the low fat mayo significantly cuts down on calories that you would see in other traditional burger sauce recipes. If you want a lower calorie and higher protein burger sauce, use blended cottage cheese instead of mayonnaise.
How should I store the sauce?
I store mine in a sealed, glass container in the refrigerator. Then, I give it a good stir when I am ready to eat.
How long will the leftovers stay good?
Per the USDA, you can refrigerate the leftovers for 3 to 4 days and enjoy throughout the week making this a great dip to store in the refrigerator. As always, you should also use your best judgment when assessing leftovers and give it a stir before you enjoy it again.
