If you are someone who likes to take a healthy twist on a classic appetizer, then this recipe is the one for you!

I think we have all been to a party that served a pre-chopped veggie platter with a pre-packaged ranch dip on the side. As a dietitian, I’m all for convenient ways to add color to your meal, or in this case party spread, but there’s another way that you can boost that nutrition without sacrificing flavor!

Enter, this easy blended cottage cheese ranch dip. With thick and creamy blended cottage cheese seasoned with hidden valley ranch seasoning, this healthy ranch dip is loaded with protein, vitamins, and minerals, yet full of the ranch flavors that pair so well with vegetables or chips.

The best part about this recipe? It’s only 2 ingredients and can be made ahead of time to be enjoyed throughout the week as a high protein dip or for a grab and go option to take to an upcoming party that is just as convenient to bring with you as your pre-chopped veggie platter is!

Why you’ll love this recipe:

You’ll absolutely love this high protein cottage cheese ranch dip because because it:

  • Loaded with nutrition: Cottage cheese is low in calorie but high in protein, calcium, phosphorous, potassium, and vitamin B12. It’s also a vegetarian friendly protein source and easy to add to a variety of recipes.

  • Uses blended cottage cheese: Blended cottage cheese is simply cottage cheese that has been blended in a blender or food processor until smooth. It’s thick and creamy and the perfect addition to dips and recipes!

  • Skips the tang of greek yogurt: While many people make greek yogurt ranch dip for a healthy twist, I actually prefer to make the cottage cheese ranch dip because cottage cheese is much more mild in flavor and doesn’t have the tang that comes with greek yogurt.

  • Is kid friendly: If you have kids who are falling short on protein or tend to be picky eaters, this dip is a really kid friendly way to add protein and nutrition to their diet, even if it’s paired with potato chips.

  • Family friendly: This dip is full of mild flavor and will be loved by all family members…. even my husband liked it and I consider him to be a bit of a ranch critic.

You’re going to love this easy recipe!

Ingredients:

If you have made alot of my recipes, you may have noticed that I ike to keep things fairly simple. I’m a big believer in “good nutrition does not need to be complicated nutrition” and sometimes I lean in to convenient items to help me eat more veggies or more protein. You can too!

Here, I kept it simply by using the pre-blended ranch seasoning. It’s simple to use, great when sprinkled on roasted broccoli or baked potatoes, and an easy way to add flavor to this high protein dip. Therefore, this recipe is only 2 ingredients:

  1. Cottage cheese: I used whole milk Dairy cottage cheese because I find that Daisy blends easier than Good Culture but you can use whatever percent of cottage cheese you want a your preferred brand.

  2. Hidden valley ranch seasoning: Of course you have the option to make your own ranch seasoning if you want.

  3. Optional: you may need to add milk or water to blend your cottage cheese but this will depend on the brand of cottage cheese you buy.

The process:

This healthy ranch dip will be ready to enjoy in just two simple steps:

  1. Add all of your ingredients to a blender or food processor.

  2. Blend until smooth. Enjoy!

LTN Tip: Depending on the brand of cottage cheese you buy, some cottage cheese brands blend easier than others. If you are struggling to get your cottage cheese ranch to blend, add 1 to 2 tablespoons of milk and continue to blend.

What to eat with cottage cheese ranch dip:

There are so many ways that you can enjoy this cottage cheese ranch dip including:

  • Add it to veggie trays: This is my favorite way to enjoy this dip because it not only adds flavor to your veggies, making them more enticing to eat, but it also adds protein to your snack which will help keep you fuller for longer.

  • Serve it with chips: I think it’s safe to assume we have all enjoyed the ruffles with ranch dip appetizer at at least one party in our life. This ranch dip can be served the exact same way and enjoyed with some ruffles!

  • Use it as a dip: Dip fries or roasted potatoes into this ranch dip.

  • Thin it out and make it a dressing: You can add extra milk to this cottage cheese ranch dip to make it a cottage cheese ranch dressing instead! Then, serve it with taco salads or another preferred salad for a high protein salad dressing that your family will love.

Recipe FAQ:

  1. Can I make this recipe lower in calorie?

    1. Absolutely! While this recipe is already significantly lower in calorie and higher in protein than traditional ranch, you can make it an even lower calorie ranch dip by choosing non-fat or 1% fat cottage cheese as your base.

  2. Can I turn this into cottage cheese ranch dressing?

    1. If you would like to make this dip into a dressing, simply add a little bit more milk (maybe 1/3 cup) to the blender while you blend the cottage cheese. This will thin out the recipe and make it easier to enjoy as a dressing.

  3. How long will the leftovers stay good?

    1. Per the USDA, you can refrigerate the leftovers for 3 to 4 days and enjoy throughout the week making this a great dip to store in the refrigerator. As always, you should also use your best judgment when assessing leftovers and give it a stir before you enjoy it again.
