Chocolate Baked Oats (No Banana!)
This chocolate blended oats recipe uses no banana and is a lightly sweet yet deliciously decadent start to your morning!
While it started as a Tik Tok trend, blended oatmeal has now turned into a regular breakfast for me. I love these recipes because it is a nutrient dense breakfast option that can be made into a single serve recipe, used as meal prep, and is easily personalized!
I recently posted a chocolate chip baked oatmeal recipe that y’all loved so let’s keep the good times rolling with this chocolate baked oats! I had a lot of requests for baked oats with no banana so I, after a few fails, finally perfected this chocolate blended and baked oatmeal with no banana recipe!
What are blended baked oats?
Oatmeal comes in all shapes and sizes, and blended baked oats are just one of many options to use up that large oatmeal canister. Blended oats are oats that have been blended with other ingredients like milk, egg, and banana to form a smooth batter. This blended oatmeal is then added to a ramekin and baked like you would bake a bread or muffin for a nutritious yet delicious breakfast option.
Why you’ll love this recipe:
Chocolate baked oats will be a fan favorite in your home because:
Easy to make: all you really need to do is blend a few popular ingredients in a blender or blender cup, split the batter between two pre-greased ramekins (mine are 6oz), and bake!
I highly recommend these ninja blender cups. If you have a ninja blender, I recommend you buy these attachments for single serve smoothies or for recipes like this chocolate baked oatmeal!
It’s chocolate for breakfast- I mean, what’s not to love? This chocolate for breakfast is secretly nutritious though with protein from the milk and egg and fiber from the oatmeal. It also uses unsweetened cacao powder making it lower in added sugar (and sweetness) than other pastries.
No banana- if you were on the hunt for a baked oatmeal recipe with no banana, try this one out!
Can be personalized- this recipe is the perfect “base” for you or your kids to make their own! Add toppings, mix-ins, or other pairings to personalize these delicious baked and blended oats.
Ingredients:
·Old fashioned oats: Blended and pulsed into an easy oat flour.
Unsweetened cacao powder: The chocolate to our chocolate oats. Keep in mind that this is not going to be as sweet as a brownie would be because we use the unsweetened option!
Egg: The binder for our ingredients.
Milk: I used whole milk but you can use your favorite.
Baking powder: This is what helps the batter rise into its cake like texture.
Vanilla extract: This adds a nice, deep flavor to our chocolate batter.
Honey: This is for sweetness but you could also use maple syrup. I kept the sweetness light but if you want a sweeter batter, add more honey!
Recipe modifications:
As much as I would love to describe this recipe as a brownie in a cup, it is much less sweet than a brownie and significantly more nutritious. I think this recipe would be great with:
Toppings: add peanut butter, crushed peppermint, a dallop of cool whip, or a sweet chocolate sauce for a topping.
Mix ins: sweeten things up by stirring in a few chocolate chips, chopped hazelnut, or even some fun toffee pieces.
Add fruit: fresh strawberries, raspberries, or even sliced banana would pair perfectly with this chocolate base.
Add some protein: pair this chocolate baked oatmeal with a fried egg or add a scoop of vanilla Greek yogurt to the top to increase your protein content.

Can I microwave this recipe?
Yes! I have always made mine in the oven because I like the way it crisps up the top but you can also microwave these ramekins for about 3 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Is this chocolate baked oatmeal gluten free?
Using old fashioned oats as the flour base keeps this recipe gluten free. Although oats are naturally gluten free, you can be extra extra careful by buying certified gluten free oatmeal.
