This recipe is only 4 easy ingredients and really sets the “base” for your guacamole. From there, your options are almost endless to customize and personalize:

  • Add tomato and onion: These are two key ingredients that you will often find in more robust guacamole recipes. You could also add some pre-made pico de gallo or fresh salsa to minimize chopping.

  • Add some heat: Diced jalapeños or hot diced chili peppers could add some spice.

  • Change your seasonings: garlic powder, salt, onion powder, pepper, taco seasoning, and chile powder would all enhance the flavors of your guacamole.

  • To taste: I wrote this recipe to turn out just the way I like it… with a healthy dose of lime and strong cilantro flavor- but that may not be what your tastebuds prefer! Play around with the portions of the 4 ingredients in this recipe to build your perfect dip.

Recipe FAQ:

  1. Is guacamole healthy?

    1. Avocados, which are the primary ingredient in guacamole, are filled with healthy fats and are very high in fiber. While the high fat content can make guacamole higher in calories, it is rich in nourishing nutrients that keep you fuller for longer. It’s a great choice!

  2. How to store guacamole?

    1. The issue with making guacamole ahead of time is that the avocados will turn brown when exposed to air. To avoid this, I would drizzle some extra lime juice across the top of your guacamole and then cover with plastic wrap, being sure to push out the excess air.

  3. What to serve with guacamole?

    1. I gave a whole list of ideas in this blog ahead but my personal favorite way to enjoy guacamole is on a snack board with corn tortilla chips, pita chips, carrots, thin sliced bell peppers, and cucumbers!
